Sick Like Sid & Nancy

It's been exactly a year--December 2005--since we first debuted New Young Pony Club on the Mondo dance floor. Since then, not only has the British pop quintet gained popularity, but the rest of New York City has finally caught up with us. This coming month, the band crosses the pond to grace the states with their bawdy variety of indie-dance-pop with appearances in California and New York respectively. But before they get here, we figured we'd let you in on what all the fuss is about...
In what is their first officially released UK single, Ice Cream, NYPC deliver the kind of infectious beat that's nearly impossible not to want to dance to. A combination of New Wave detachment and classic dance hooks. (So infectious in fact that--much to our dismay--they've been picked up by Intel for their TV spots.) {Ugh} Cleverly strung lyrics help the song along, creating a memorable ipod soundtrack for strap hanging lads.
But there's tons more than Ice Cream to indulge on (pun intended). You can hear New Young Pony Club on their My Space page and buy the EP on Modular Records.
Before I sign off...Here's one more for the road. Get Lucky repeats the NYPC signature-sedated-delivery of cool electronics with New Wave sensibility...Enjoy!
