Fuck it, Lets Hibernate

It's been too long. Winter has gotten in the way of some things. Last time I contributed to the blog...oh well lets just say, funny how time flies.

And now as pea coats give way to Harrington jackets, I am rejuvenated by all the new music that comes with a season's change. (Well some will say that "obsessed" is actually more accurate.)

A couple of months ago, I fell madly in love with Fanfarlo. Their track Harold T. Wilkins knocked me over the head like a ton of bricks.

But it didn't stop there. The whole bloody debut album won me over. Believe me when I tell you, these Brits are something special. Here's another great melody from their debut album Reservoir:

Fanfarlo - Finish Line

In the last 6 weeks, I've also managed to attend my fair share of live shows. But, I must say I was most excited to FINALLY see the notorious Rakes. They've played NYC many times and each time I'd failed to see them. If I'd loved The Rakes before, seeing them play live no doubt made me a permanent fan. The band is like something plucked out of 1979 (before post-punk had yet to give way to colorful New Wave antics and being understated was still cool). I have to say, my favorite live moment was 22 Grand Job. One of their better-known hits.

But the songs off their newest album Klang! (officially released today) sounded great too. And helped me hone in on some real gems. Here's a couple of brilliant sample track from their third full-length:

The Rakes - The Light From Your Mac
The Rakes - 1989

Enjoy!
