Follow My Voice

This week, we're delighted to have John Cameron Mitchell behind the decks with us at Mondo. He's taking time out of doing the final work on his forthcoming feature, Short Bus (the soundtrack of which is shaping up to be something very special), to help us help you dance. In honor of him, I'm posting one to dance to and one to, well, maybe you could slow dance to it.

The Breeders' "Wicked Little Town (Hedwig Version)" is from the splendid compilation of Hedwig and the Angry Inch covers, Wig in a Box. I first got to know John in a surly dance pit at a sweaty Breeders show at the Bowery Ballroom at which he did an encore with the band and gallantly stage dove at the end of his vocals. That something as sweet and quiet as this gorgeous track should come from a pairing that was so raucous on stage is a wonderful thing indeed. Enjoy.

And I have a little less to say about Munk + James Murphy's "Kick Out The Chairs" except that it displays Murphy's sense of humor better than anything on the LCD Soundsystem record. Alright, except maybe "Losing My Edge." Plus you can dance to it.

See you Friday!
