Winter Doldrums

It's (nearly) March. That time of year when the cold weather seems to become a perpetual burden. The Winter blues have settled in for most of us and yet occasionally we find a moment to chuckle at (for example) how great the new Belle & Sebastian record is or how the Sex Pistols—in punk rock tradition—flip the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a birdie.

Sometimes it seems though, that even my iTunes is feeling the same way I am—looking expectantly towards warmer days ahead, but not entirely optomistic. This isn't necessarily such a bad thing. Songs can sometimes act like a comforter on a cold winter night. Tonight i snuggled up with these gems:

Trash Can Sinatras - I Know It's Over (A beautiful cover of an old classic)
Vitesse - Of All the Things That You've Done Wrong (Just as melancholy, but much more obscure)

Enjoy!

The beat the beat the beat

Hi and welcome to the Mondo mp3 blog. There's so much music we love that we felt the need to share beyond the dancefloor.

You've probably already fallen for Architecture in Helsinki's "Do The Whirlwind" but check out this Hot Chip remix that keeps the original's whimsy and dreaminess and steps it up with glitchy, nervous production that sounds like a Cap'n Crunch and double espresso high.

And how cute is this new Concretes track, "Song For The Songs"? It's all merry go round, Springtime and fizz. Kind of makes it feel like Winter's over, no?
